WHY IT MATTERS
Fighting for reproductive justice was what motivated founder, Sophie Flack, to start Semper Augustus in the first place. When Roe v Wade was overturned in 2022 she realized that she could use jewelry design to help spread the word about self-managed abortion. It only made sense that a portion of sales would go towards providing healthcare and travel to those in need by partnering with an impactful non-profit.

WHY IT MATTERS
Founder Sophie Flack conceived of the Mental Health Collection after suffering severe postpartum depression. She reasoned that if she’d known just how many people in her orbit were on a daily medication, she might have asked for help earlier. Social stigma should never be a deterrent for seeking lifesaving treatment, and if we all wear what we’re taking, we create opportunities for recognition, maybe help someone in a vulnerable place, and give back to this incredible nonprofit.
Sophie recently curated an art show for Fountain House Gallery (9/12/24-10/30/24) inviting members to submit works exploring what it might be like if the viewer could “tour” their minds. The Fountain House community is jaw-droppingly talented, but it’s their raw vulnerability, and honestly about what it’s like to be human that makes the show so powerful and inspiring.
